Outdoor Digital Photography Workshop in Aspen

June 26, 2008

Aspen Colorado - July 5-6, 2009

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) will offer a perennial favorite: From Valley to Ridgeline, a digital photography workshop with David Hiser. Both workshops will spend days outside, enjoying this glorious Colorado mountain weather, as well as time indoors honing participants skills.

This weekend workshop will include opportunities to photograph the wildflower meadows surrounding Toklat, as well as the tundra ridges above tree line. Be prepared for a weekend adventure that will combine photo field trips, camping at Toklat, and cooperative group dynamics and food preparation. David Hiser, professional photographer and educator, will help participants refine their digital photography skills and learn a basic digital workflow. Macro lens capability is highly recommended for this focused workshop. Everyone will need a digital camera, a tripod and a laptop computer (with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements installed), and understand their basic operation before taking the course.

NEXT WEEK AT ACES: For the week of June 30, the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies is offering myriad classes for adults and children.

  • Tuesday and Thursday will feature 2-hour classes for kids ages 6-8 with hands-on art projects inspired by nature. The cost is $10 and spaces are still available.
  • Friday we offer something for the little ones: our Little Naturalists class is for 4- and 5-year-olds and runs from 11am-noon at the Hallam Lake nature preserve. The cost is $7 and the class is a great way to introduce kids to ACES and all it has to offer.
  • For adults, we have an outstanding creative opportunity with spectacular teachers. June 30-July 2, we offer the Portraits of Nature class with Marcia Fusaro.
