A beautiful new 35mm print has just been struck of this true film classic, arguably Charlie Chaplin’s best, most complex and moving work. A mixture of comedy and pathos that only he could pull off, the picture walks a fine line between slapstick and melodrama without compromising either genre. Chaplin, playing his famous tramp, encounters a blind flower girl whom he falls in love with, as unlike everyone else she does not judge him by his appearance.
