Disability Awareness Day-Challenge Aspen
March 6, 2008
Snowmass Mountain, Saturday, March 15, 10am - 2:30pm
Challenge Aspen welcomes the Aspen/Snowmass and the entire Roaring Fork community to join a special celebration of Disability Awareness Day on Snowmass Mountain, Saturday, March 15, 10am - 2:30pm at the old ski school “Grizzly Den,” across from The Skittles.
The Challenge Aspen staff has themed the event “Party Like It’s 1989,” inviting everyone to come in totally radical 80’s wear, enjoy a free lunch, music, prizes and the rare, hands-on opportunity to learn more about adaptive skiing and snowboarding. “This is going to be a really fun event. Challenge Aspen instructors and staff will be available to offer anyone who’s interested, the opportunity to actually experience what it’s like to ski visually impaired and guided down the mountain blind,” explains Sarah Volf. “There’s also the opportunity for anyone interested, to use adaptive equipment like the bi-ski, typically used by Challenge Aspen participants with physical disabilities.
This is truly a rare, fun opportunity for members of this amazing community to experience a taste of the joy and exhilaration that Challenge Aspen participants experience in our programs.”
