nader_tehrani.gifThe Aspen Art Museum is proud to announce an illustrated slide lecture with renowned architect Nader Tehrani as the first of four 2008 AAM Architecture Lecture Series events to be held at The Aspen Institute. Tehrani’s presentation will take place Thursday, March 13, 2008, at The Institute’s Paepcke Auditorium from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Hosted in collaboration with the Aspen Institute and the City of Aspen Community Development Department, the AAM Architecture Lecture Series brings world-renowned architects to Aspen to discuss the role of public architecture in our society, and how its form, style, a nd purpose impact our engineered landscapes. Feb. 13th: Bhutan: “Trekking in the Kingdom of the Dragon” Ruth Wade
A magical Bhutan journey combines Bhutan’s fascinating cultural attractions with adventure in the Himalaya. The Land of the Thunder Dragon will enchant you with it’s natural beauty and peaceful pace.

Feb. 20th: Vietnam: “Return to Vietnam” Barbara Floria Orcutt
In March 2006 she traveled to Viet Nam on a humanitarian mission with her husband Allen Orcutt, who was a Marine helicopter pilot in Viet Nam in 1968.

Feb. 27th: China & India: “Tribal People of India and China” Richard Shenk
Richard has been traveling to Asia and photographing landscapes and the tribal people that live in the more remote areas. At the lecture on February 27 Richard will show and discuss images from Myanmar and Ladahk.

March 05: Nepal: “Tilicho Lake and Hidden Valley” Catherine Cussaguet
The presentation includes an historical perspective on trekking and climbing in this part of the world.

Colorado Kids Activities-Winter Ranchers and Explorers

Winter Ranchers at Rock Bottom Ranch - 1st to 4th grade
January 02 - January 04, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

  • $40 per day, $30 per day members
  • Wintertime at Rock Bottom Ranch brings cold weather, snow, and plenty of excitement. Step into the life of a rancher and naturalist during the winter for one, two, or all three days. Each day promises something new Well begin each morning by feeding the critters in our farm yard. Next, well play games, learn how to churn butter and spin wool, explore for tracks in the wildlife preserve, or build a snowman (snowrancher) and snow cave. So, throw on your cowboy hat, snow pants, and your warmest jacket and join us for winter explorations of the farming kind!

    Winter Explorers at Hallam Lake - 3rd and 4th grade
    January 02 - January 04, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

  • $50 per day, $40 per day ACES members
  • Pull out your winter coats and come join our master winter explorers for a few days full of excitement and discovery. Explore and discover for one, two, or all three days with us at Hallam Lake. Explorers will investigate the wintery world that surrounds us by tracking, studying winter ecology, discovering animal adaptations, practicing snow survival skills, creating beautiful snow sculptures, experimenting with ice art, and much more. Come and discover through the hands-on school of nature!
