Santa Claus Santa’s Coming to the Aspen Recreation Center!

NOTE! Santa has been delayed (reindeer problems) the new date is Saturday, December 13!!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…to the Aspen Recreation Center! We talked to the North Pole and Santa is coming to Aspen on Saturday, December 13th. Please join the Aspen Recreation Center as we welcome Santa to town from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Aspen Recreation Center. Kids of all ages are invited to get their pictures taken with Santa, enjoy holiday cookies, and warm up with some hot apple cider. Adults can enjoy holiday beverages, snacks, and all the festivities. You won’t want to miss this once a year chance to visit Jolly old Saint Nick.

Carbondale Chamber promotes “Shop Locally” with Gift Certificates for the Holidays

The Carbondale Chamber introduced the Chamber Gift Certificate program several years ago in an effort to encourage people to “shop locally”. Over the years, the number of participating businesses has grown from 10 to over 100.

“We have people calling from out of state to purchase the gift certificates for friends and family in Carbondale. The word is getting out,” says Chamber Executive Director Randi Lowenthal adding, “the gift certificates are the perfect gifts for family, friends and employees on your list, since they can be purchased in any denomination and the recipient can determine if they would like to go to dinner, shop in one of the boutiques in town, have work done on their car, or even go rafting! What a great way to say ‘happy holidays’!”

Carbondale Chamber Gift Certificates are only redeemable at Chamber Member businesses, and each gift certificate comes with a list of participating businesses as well as the website information, where the list is constantly updated - View Current List

Chamber Gift Certificates can be purchased at the Chamber office, 981 Cowen Drive, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Childrens Christmas Pagent

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT REHEARSALS

Pageant rehearsals begin this Sunday, November 16th during the 9:00 a.m. service. Additional rehearsals will be held on November 23rd, December 7th and December 13th. The dress rehearsal will be Saturday, December 13th from 9:00 a.m. until noon. A pizza lunch will be provided following the dress rehearsal. If you have any questions, please contact Director Tammy Baar at Kidtoons Productions (923-6926).

Social - Innovative Tapas and Small Plates

INNOVATIVE GLOBAL TAPAS AND TEMPTING SMALL PLATES RESTAURANT “SOCIAL” brings on new Executive Chef – Rob Wilson and new General Manager – Christian Henrichon

Last winter, Aspen, welcomed Social, a restaurant and lounge, to “Restaurant Row”, the quaint strip on Hopkins Avenue known as a crowd pleaser for the dining set. Social offers cleverly presented global tapas with a decidedly modern and locally fresh approach. The menu is designed to appeal to those who want to try it all; a tasting menu with a vibrant twist.

This winter, Restaurateurs Tommy Tolleson, Gunnar Sachs, and Denise Walters are excited to announce that Chef Rob Wilson (formerly of Matsuhisa, The French Laundry, Ma Maision, and Pacific Café) has joined the team as Executive Chef. Look for an exciting new winter menu, combining Social’s most popular dishes with Chef Rob Wilson’s favorites including a new raw section featuring some of his Japanese inspirations such as cobia with jamon, esplette and unfiltered olive oil; and hamachi with yuzy kositu and sweet soy.

Christian Henrichon (of Matsuhisa and Kenichi) will be leading the Social team as General Manager. Greg Jefferson, local mixologist, will be running the beverage program so now there is even more reason to head up the Social lounge .

Social is reopening for the winter season on November 25, 2008. Located at 304 East Hopkins Avenue on Aspen’s Restaurant Row, Social is open seven days a week from 5:30 until 10 p.m. for dinner. SPECIAL EVENT: A Taste of Winter

A Taste of Winter Trade Show

Special Event

A Taste of Winter will take place on Thursday, December 4 from 5-8pm at the Inn at Aspen. Invitations will go out on Monday to all VIP Keyholders. Keyholders will also receive a postcard in the mail this winter which will act as your pass for admittance. Please bring the postcard or printed e-mail invitation to the event for easy check-in. YOU MUST BE ON THE KEYHOLDER LIST TO ATTEND.

Once again, this private trade show and winter celebration will bring together 600-800 guest service professionals for a taste of the best of the Roaring Fork Valley winter season.

We have completed our updates of the VIP Keyholder list. If there are new guest service professionals to add prior to the event please have management e-mail info@conciergeguide.com with the names, titles and e-mail addresses so that we can send them an invitation.
