September 12 to 14, 2008

Enjoy the 33rd annual Snowmass Hot Air Balloon Festival. Three days of balloon flights, wine and champagne tastings (as part of the Snowmass Wine Festival) live music, and dining options. Viewing from the take-off zone in Snowmass Village, and various points along the flight path depending on the wind. Tickets for wine tastings, music events and dining are available for the individual activity. Kids events and participation available daily.

Aspen Recreation Center Fall Maintenance Closure & Doggie Days

Attention Aspen Community, Roaring Fork Valley and loyal ARC Pass Holders, the Aspen Parks & Recreation Department would like to thank you for a great summer season and look forward to seeing you again soon.

The City of Aspen Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce the Maintenance closure of the Aspen Recreation Center. In order to keep the ARC operating at the high level of service you have become accustom to, the ARC will be closing for maintenance and cleaning from September 13th thru the 21st. This time will allow the City of Aspen to ensure that all systems operate efficiently and without down time for your continued enjoyment. Cleaning and maintenance will include all areas of the facility; the Lewis Ice Arena and the James E. Moore Pool. Public skating and programming will be available at the Aspen Ice Garden in town during the Lewis closure. The Red Brick Recreation Center is always open!

Don’t forget! If you are a dog owner, the ARC pools will be open on the Saturday, September 13th from 12:00-4:00pm, prior to the shutdown, for the enjoyment of our four legged friends. Bring your dog and let them enjoy a swim in the James E. Moore Pool. Doggy day will include fun and games from the Aspen Recreation Center Staff and your friends at Rocky Mountain Pet Shop. Cost: $5.00 per dog. All dogs must be registered, maintain current shots (tags and or paperwork), and be well socialized with other dogs and people.

Alpine Air is promoting its new “shared charter” feature. Here’s how it works: When we have a client interested in sharing a flight, we search our database for other travelers who regularly go to the same city to share the flight expenses.

Simply go to the Alpine Air Shared Charters page and input your contact info and city pairs to which you regularly travel. We will notify you anytime there are other passengers who wish to share the trip expenses to that city.
