Aspen Art Museum Annual après-ski benefit
December 24, 2007
On Friday, December 28, 2007, fashionistas and art enthusiasts schuss down the slopes to strut the red carpet for the ASPEN ART MUSEUM’s annual après-ski benefit—Dennis Basso Freestyle, presented by Bulgari, Aspen Magazine and Sentient Jet Membership at the St. Regis Aspen Resort. Along with the AAM’s summer feature event artCRUSH, Dennis Basso Freestyle is one of two major AAM fundraising events that take place each year to benefit the museum’s groundbreaking programming of internationally important contemporary art. Last year’s Dennis Basso Freestyle winter benefit raised an unprecedented $650,000 for the cause, with this season promising to be yet another banner year of fun, fashion, and philanthropy.
Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m., with Moët & Chandon champagne, cocktails, caviar, and delectable hors d’oeuvres, as guests peruse an array of must-have silent auction items, fashion accessories, unique trips, and exotic luxury goods. At 6:15 p.m., bidding paddles reach skyward as Christie’s auctioneer Lydia Fenet hosts the evening’s live auction, and the grand finale of the celebratory experience is provided by the DENNIS BASSO 2007/2008 Winter Collection runway fashion show.
This season Dennis Basso once again proves that his fashions remain fine art with another stunning collection of tradition-breaking designs featuring his unmatched and ever-elegant palette, hand-embellished, chevron-patterned sables, hand-embroidered shearlings and signature Russian broadtail coats.
Don’t miss out on Aspen’s only fashion gala of the year, the hottest party of the season, the magnet for the most stylish crowd in Aspen, and your chance to be an integral part of supporting the Aspen Art Museum’s internationally recognized contemporary arts programming.
Event co-chairs for the 2007 Dennis Basso Freestyle benefit are AAM Board of Trustees member Carolyn Powers and Betsy Fifield. For additional details or reservations, contact the Aspen Art Museum at 970.925.8050.
Aspen-Snowmass Family Activities
December 23, 2007
If you’re heading to Colorado to ski this winter, chances are you won’t be too far from Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in historic Glenwood Springs - within an hour of Vail, Beaver Creak, Sunlight, Snowmass and Aspen, and two hours of Breckenridge, Winter Park, Powderhorn, Steamboat, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Ski Cooper and SolVista - this mountain-top destination makes a memorable addition to the traditional ski trip.
“Our proximity to so many ski areas, combined with our setting and attractions, makes this a perfect way to round out a winter vacation,” said Steve Beckley, who owns Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with his wife Jeanne. “The caves remain a constant 52 degrees, and the crowds are a bit thinner this time of year, so it’s really a great time to visit.”
